I remember when President Clinton could not find a buddy in Washington, and he needed a buddy. Therefore, he went out, bought a dog, and named the dog buddy. When asked by the press why he named his new dog buddy? Clinton told the reporters he needed a buddy in Washington and now he has one.
You're right. Sometimes it's just nice to have someone to vent to about a perceived unfairness in requirements or grades.
